Marine Painting "Marina Bridges" is a plein air marine oil painting of the view down the docks at Peninsula Marina where the Roché family cutter, Farewell, is tied up. On the right is the Bella Costa Apartment complex. You are looking toward the South on an afternoon in July, 2006. The marina and apartments are on the East side of Channel Islands Harbor, Oxnard. Southern California coastal weather is unique in that it is more clear in the winter than summer. June and July are usually overcast with a short period of afternoon clearing as the summer Marine Layer of low clouds moves offshore and onshore. At the time of this painting the sky was clear. But soon after, the low, moist layer of clouds looming offshore moved in for the night. This painting is an example of a Marine Painting, but could just as well be a Marine Painting Commission. If you have an architectural feature of your waterfront home, business, your yacht or a special ocean or beach view that you would like to preserve in a painting commission, this is an example of how it could be done. Marine and Seascape Painting Commissions also make memorable gifts. To order click here.
