Orchid Painting

This is an orchid painting of Brassocattleya Pastoral 'Innocence', one of several orchids in Elena's tropical plant collection.  Brassocattleya Pastoral 'Innocence' is a hybrid between a Cattleya and one of several species of Brassavola and is distinguished by its large flowers with heavily fringed lips.  Cattleyas and their relatives are "the" orchid to the popular mind - the orchid of prom night and civic function corsages.  All are native to tropical America.  Most can tolerate a wide range of conditions and therefore make showy house plants and lovely orchid paintings.
