THE FLOWERING VINE

This is a watercolor painting of a Clematis flowering vine that climbs the fence of the Elena Roché's garden.  It was painted en plein air in June of 2004.  The butterfly clinging to the vine, the Tiger Swallowtail, is often seen in the Southern California garden of the artist.
