Elena Roché is an artist currently painting and drawing in oil,  watercolor, pastel, graphite, charcoal, and colored pencil.  She is located in the Southern California area in a suburb of Los Angeles called Topanga.

     Elena Roché's Studio is on the grounds of her home, El Refugio, which has been declared a Wild Life Habitat by the National Wild Life Federation and borders Topanga State Park.  This park is one of the largest "in city" parks in the world.  Located in the Santa Monica Mountains, an ideal location for Landscape Painting, this park and the surrounding mountains divide greater Los Angeles into two parts.  Several passes, such as Topanga Canyon, link famous areas such as Malibu, Hollywood and Beverly Hills on the South to their counterparts such as Sherman Oaks, Encino, Woodland Hills and Calabasas on the North side of the mountains.  This North side is known world-wide in film and song as "the Valley", as in "Valley Girl" and "Ventura Highway".

     In her mountain redoubt, Elena Roché paints virtually all of her floral watercolors and some still life from subjects in her own garden.  This extensive garden includes sections devoted to wildflowers, cactus and succulents, flowering trees, flowering vines, bulbs, fruit and citrus trees, potted and in-ground flowers, herbs and a kitchen vegetable garden.

     Because of the mild and predictable Southern California weather, all florals are painted en plein air, i.e. outdoors on site.

     Portrait commissions, architectural portrait commissions and still life are painted indoors in the Studio.
